You pondering what I'm pondering?

I wore my Pinky and the Brain. It was strange since I got 2 compliments on the shirt. I really liked it, but I thought it was childish. It was funny since one of the people who complimented me on the shirt asked why they stopped making the cartoon. I really have no idea. :/

I'm still going to embrace "adult clothes". I need to dress well to get a job and such. I think I'll keep my "bad hair" for now.

I was thinking I could incorporate the shirt into a Pinky costume. I saw a Pinky and the Brain costume somebody made, and in my opinion it wasn't that good. I still haven't decided on a costume yet. I still have about 6-7 months left. I'd need to think about how I'd go about making it. I was also thinking about dressing as something or someone who is red or wears red. I was thinking: Minnie Mouse (red dress), Harley Quinn, Musa from the Winx Club (casual outfit season 1), devil, strawberry, Strawberry Shortcake (either 80s or 1991 version), cherries, Wicked Witch of the East, and Something Glee related.

I threw out these characters; Ringo from Tokyo Mew Mew, Anemone, Sailor Mars, Kaitlyn/Poppu from Magical Doremi/Ojamajo Doremi, Lisa Simpson, Wordgirl, Red Butler from Rainbow Brite, red riding hood.

Go Shorty

I went to eat at the Home Town Buffet. There was some nasty pasta there. I don't like baked macaroni; I'm babyish like that. My dad wanted me to try some nasty looking pasta Florentine. It made school cafeteria pasta look good. There was also some really good ham, popcorn shrimp and Teriyaki chicken.

During the low carb craze when everybody was giving up pasta I was cool with it I really don't like pasta, but I like noodles.

The thing I'm wondering about the Glee calendar is why put Terri in it? That was a real stretch for a character to add. Terri was written out of the show in Mattress. She does pop up occasionally like in Funk and Britney/Brittany. But Britney/Brittany is from season 2. I think the calendar covers the first half of season 1. Too bad it doesn't have that "whole lot of middle" quote in it from the episode Journey. Why not add Santana, Brittany, or even Ken instead of Terri? Brittany has the best quotes. She is confused by recipes. It's funny because my mom always says that March has a bad picture. Finn is the character for March. I think Finn is not a bad choice unless a person is not a Finn fan. It's better than Terri.

A Decade of Fashion

There were a lot of different fashion trends this decade. Early in the decade it started off with a lot of carry over from the late 90s. I wonder what will carry on into the next decade?

Avril look
Back when she was “punk”. When she use to wear ties and tank tops. Don’t forget the heavy black eyeliner and black nail polish.

Arm warmers
These were popularized by Avril. I think? But they aren’t totally “Avril”. I think they are cute. Wait doesn’t Jeff Hardy wear them too? Or he use to.

The western look
This look was popularized by Madonna. You know with the cowboy hats, big belt buckles and the low rise pants.

Low rise pants
I thought I’d group this with the western look although not all low rise pants are western inspired. I’ll admit I’ve worn my pants too low and I cracked a bit. There was a time where you couldn’t go anywhere without seeing somebody’s butt crack. You might need some aspray. (This is a real item!) I sort of liked this trend because I don’t like high waisted pants. I haven’t worn high waisted pants since about 1997. Low waisted pants are good if you have a big gut so you can wear them low and let you gut hang over the pants. Let you gut break free and do its own thing! (Muffin top!)

Skechers Energy shoes
A lot of people love this style of shoe. I thought they were so ugly! They looked like the running shoes my dad wears. Those shoes are really more about style than exercise. Everybody wore them! Boys and girls. Maybe that’s another reason why I was so annoyed by them. I’m not sure if there was only one color available in the area, but it seemed like all the girls wore the ones with the light blue stripe.

Pink hair
Look! I blatantly put this picture of Gwen Stefani in my blog! Pink hair was a trend in the early 2000s. Not just Gwen had pink hair there were other celebrities who had pink hair too. Pink hair was really popular at my high school.

Flipped hair
This was more popular earlier in the decade. Hair was very flippy or feathered.

Velour sweat suits
These were not flattering to everyone. When ever I see somebody wearing them it usually makes their ass look really jiggly in bad way. Velour is not a forgiving material. Is draping your self in it socially acceptable? When I see them it just gives me a metal snap shot circa 2004/2005 of a girl wearing the suit with her designer purse with her ipod mini and razr phone, and possibly having some frosted streaks in her hair.

Designer bags (real or knockoff)
Everybody had to have one real or fake. If you couldn’t afford the real thing you could go to the swap meat or someplace similar that sold the fakes or even the internet.

Uggs and similar boots
I never really got into that trend. I was thinking about buying some knockoff ones. I never did because I knew my dad would tease me mercilessly if I did.

Crocs and similar shoes
Jelly’s ugly cousin; or so they say. I’d rather wear a jelly shoes than a pair of crocs. Maybe it’s just because jelly makes me feel nostalgic. I was considering buying a knockoff pair of crocs, but I realized how ugly they look and decided not to.

grillz
I really never saw the point of this trend. I guess it was like having gold/silver you could take out.

Bling
Everybody was into that trend even Barbie. These dolls are the My Scene My Bling Bling line. They came with jewelry.
I’ve always hated that word. I don’t think I’ve really ever used it. Maybe I might have said “phone bling”. It’s like the words “swagga/swagger/swag”.

Side bangs
Here I am blatantly putting a picture of Shirley Manson in my blog. Actually it belongs in this one. Everybody wore side bangs this decade including her. But they don’t look bad on her. I’m not just saying this because I like her. They are flattering to her. There are a lot of people who wear side bangs who really shouldn’t. Like me they make my cheeks look really fat.

Flats
I like this trend. I don’t like stilettos or platforms. I can’t wear them very well because of my weak ankles, and height complex. I think flats are more comfortable than “frumpy” like some people say they are. They put less stress on the calves.

Skinny jeans
Another 80s revival. This look was not for everyone although it seemed like everyone or pretty much everyone was wearing them. Some jeans were way too skinny and looked painted on. Sometimes they were so tight you could see the shape of the items in the person’s pockets.

60s style
Ever since the show Mad Men became popular people have been wearing 60s inspired things including their clothes and hair. It’s the 20 40 rule. Everything that was popular 20 years ago (80s style) or 40 years ago (60s style) come back in style.

80s revival
There were the skinny jeans (which I already wrote about), neon/day-glo colors and paint splatter. I loved wearing neon colors and paint splatter clothes back in the 80s. I use to have a neon paint splatter denim skirt when I was 4 or 5. I didn’t really embrace this trend this time it came around. I do like neon socks with black flats. I think that looks really cute.

Big hair
Because of the 60s and 80s fashion revivals, and scene big hair was everywhere. I mean if it wasn’t popular Bumpits would not have been invented.

Leggings This is an 80s revival item. They are not pants! So don’t wear them like that! I admit I committed a fashion crime like that back in the early 90s. (They were still popular back then, and I was like 6) I’m not sure if the same rules apply for the cotton ones though. I’m really confused! @.@

Scene
I don’t know who popularized this look, but it needs to go away! I wonder what people will think who embraced this style and then look back at photos of themselves like 10 years from now.

Coon hair
I think this type of dye job is just ugly. It looks like a raccoon sat on your head. Do you think you could cheat by attaching the tail of a coonskin cap to your hair?

Over sized sunglasses
These things could almost double for goggles. Sometimes they were just so large they looked like those giant clown glasses or something Elton John would wear. They look ok on some people if they are not outrageously large. They offset fat cheeks.

Slutty Halloween costumes
This trend started around back in about 2002. Pretty soon by like 2004 you could only find slutty Halloween costumes. I’m not going to divulge more into this topic since I already wrote like 4 blogs about the subject.

Crystal Tattoos
I thought this trend was kind of dumb. Most of the time I’d see people wearing these and usually the stones would be falling off.

Gladiator sandals
These came back. I think they were popular in the 70s? They came in many styles including ones with convertible straps, metallic straps and the long straps that wrapped all the way up your calves.

Graphic tees
I still wear these. I’m not trying to be trendy. They are like my thing. I get the cheap ones at the department store and stuff. I don’t like to pay a lot for them. They usually have some kind of witty saying or character on them.
There are also generic graphic tees. You know the ones that say something like “Tiger’s softball” and the graphic is distressed; there is usually a picture of a tiger on it or something like that.
Don’t forget those expensive Ed Hardy shirts with skulls and stuff on them.

Strange make up almost Mimi like
I’m not sure what this particular tend was called, but whenever I saw girls with outrageous colored eye shadow I thought about Mimi.

Filigree
At first I didn’t know what this pattern was called. I see it everywhere especially on shirts. I don’t really like it.

Nostalgia tees
These aren’t a new concept or anything, but now new designs are appearing that feature 90s characters like the Rugrats, Power Rangers and Animaniacs characters.

Ruffley skirts
Short or long they were in style. I guess this went along with the Bohemian look.
Chucks
These were popular pretty much for the whole decade. They come in all colors, patterns and combinations. I’ll admit I have a few pairs. They are pretty classic and go with a lot of different outfits.

Rubber charity bracelets
Mostly they are for a good cause. Like cancer, autism, AIDS, or child abuse. Then they became trendy and said pretty much anything on them like “Rey 619”, “I love soccer” or even “Brat".

Snubbed by Seacrest

After thinking about how different the taping of this show mentioned in the blog was from the Ferguson taping I went to. I thought I'd blog about my experience way back then. This is how I remember it. I didn't keep a paper diary back then, so I'm going by memory.

This was back in 1995. I think October. They told us at school that we could go to a field trip to a taping of a tv show. The only problem was that it was being taped in the afternoon after school. The funny thing was that nobody really knew what we were going to a taping of. A teacher told us we were gong to a taping of the Mike and Maty show. This was not a mandatory field trip we had to sign up if you wanted to go. The funny thing was a lot of the students who were going brought outfits to change into. There were a lot of short skirts and thigh highs. (this was 1995 and the "Clueless" look was rampant). I was really excited because I thought I was going to a taping of the Mike and Maty Show. Back then I would switch between watching their show and The Price is Right. I use to enjoy watching both shows. I wanted to see "celebrities". I also wanted to get autographs. I brought a note pad and some pens; I didn't think of bringing food. There was no indication that we were allowed to or not. My friend brought a bag of baloney sandwiches.

Nobody else knew anything about the Mike and Maty show or had even seen it before. They kept asking me all these questions about it. I remember telling them something about Vinny the dog. If I remember correctly I think it had 3 legs. I'm pretty sure it was a rescue dog too. I think they even wanted me to sing the theme song. The trip was long. The studio was in like Glendale or Burbank, and we went there during rush hour.

When we got to the studio there was like a lobby/office area.

Before we could go to the taping of Wild Animal Games we had to wait on the set of The Family Challenge. We were sitting in the bleachers that the audience sat in. I think they asked us if we watched that show. Anyway while we were waiting on that set there was a vat of "gunk". It was right by where we were siting too. So we are there with the vat. I'm pretty sure we were unsupervised too. The girl next to me scooped a little bit out she said it smelled, and it did; like dirt. It sort of reminded me of jello. It was not entirely a liquid or a solid. So then the girl dared me to stick my foot in the vat. I just stuck my sole in the vat because I was wearing Vans.
The episode we were on was about snakes. The show was like a mix of Double Dare with some type of educational show about animals. There was a segment with live animals. There was/were snake(s) with some trainers. They were in a terrarium.

The warm up people had a hard time relating to us. We were a group of students who were about 11-13 years old. They kept asking us questions like "Who watched The Big Help?" and "Who watches Gladiators 2000? (which was the other game show Seacrest hosted at the time)" It was funny they seemed awkward with us. I use to enjoy watching Gladiators 2000. Actually the only reason I use to watch the show was because I was a big fan of American Gladiators. That was back when I use to get teased about my height. I thought I was going to be really tall like at least 6 feet. The kids at school use to tell me I'd be so tall I'd have to live in a special house and drive a special car. I aspired to be an American Gladiator. I figured that would have been one of the few jobs I would have gotten with my freakish height. I should at least be 4 inches taller than I am now. What happened to me? :/

When they were telling us about the game show we were asked if we had any questions me being 11 and stupid at the time asked if they gave away canned hams to the audience. When I asked that question everybody in my group got mad and gave me dirty looks. The people working on the show told me it was not Letterman.

I was upset because I wasn't old enough to participate as a contestant. You had to be 12, and I was only 3 months shy of being 12. After they chose the contestants from the eligible pool of students. I moved down the bleachers to get a better seat. There was some space after they left.

They came out in sweat pants and a shirt. They were wearing the same shoes they came to the show in. One girl played the game in some pretty fancy shoes. Her shoes looked like a mix of these.

One of my favorite quotes from the trip was from one of the warm up people who were telling us (the audience) how to act on camera. We were instructed to applaud as a group when we noticed the camera was on us. "No waving! This isn't The Price is Right!"

Here was the game they played. I'll describe this as best I can. There was this giant prop snake head. It had to be about 8-10 feet tall. There was a stagehand inside the head(that wasn't supposed to be seen) who threw "eggs" (which were really balloons filled with pancake batter). The student had to catch the "eggs" in a large bowl, and then hand them off to the teacher who was wearing plastic Halloween fangs. They had to bite the "eggs" and collect the "venom" inside into a bucket.

To keep us in good spirits they played music. They must have had the Animaniacs soundtrack. They played it a lot though. At first it was fun; second time we were still singing along. After that we were bored with it. To keep us hyper they gave us a snack 1 small candy bar (not bit size) and a capri sun. They let you choose the candy bar from a large basket of candy bars.

The funny thing was that they must have shot the game being played a few times. I think they shot it at least 3 times.

After awhile we forgot what they told us, or maybe we were just ignoring them. We started waving in the camera. The funny thing was nobody told us to stop it.

Right before it was over they had a raffle and gave out prizes. I didn't win anything though. My ticket was just one number off...When the taping was over they let a few kids from the audience to look at the snakes. I didn't get to see them though. After the taping was over we were ready to leave. That's when my 2 friends and I ran into Seacrest and he sunbbed us!

The funny thing was a few months later one of the teachers who went on the trip told us that episode we went to was going to be shown on tv later that day. I think the show came on at like 4PM or something. They wanted somebody to tape it so we could all watch it. I remembered it was on, but I didn't get the channel it was shown on. Nobody remembered or taped it.

Got My Leather Boots on, What do I Know

So I went to the Ferguson taping. Honestly I thought I wasn't going to make it. I mean like there would have been a problem aside from the rain.

Preparing to go was a bit of a problem. I had to dress warmly. Oh yeah and my nails are polished blue. I was so tempted to get some neon colored nail polish (either green or yellow) at the mall, but I opted for blue instead. I had to withstand the cold. My dad wanted me to layer a lot of shirts, but they just felt bulky and I couldn't move my arms much. I felt like Ralphie's little brother from A Christmas Story. Of course I wore my boots. Rain is good boot weather. I ended up wearing too much hairspray. I did need some because it was rainy, and my hair does get a little frizzy. I only use mega hold strength.

On the way over there we listened to appropriate music. Why Garbage music of course. Well only the debut album since the car I was riding in only had a cassette player. I didn't mind; that is my favorite Garbage album, and it has "Only Happy When it Rains"on it which is a rather fitting song for today. I also kept tweeting in the car.

First of all there was parking luckily! And it was free.

The wait in the rain wasn't too bad or long. It sort of reminded me of when I was in junior high and the school didn't have an indoor cafeteria it was just a covered patio area. The thing that bothered me was that the studio was really loose about the guidelines they had like dressing nicely. People were dressed pretty sloppily like with jeans, hats, and stuff like that. They also let people take in bags, purses and cell phones. Like I said before the dress code upset me more than the bags thing. I can travel minimally. I went to a high school with no lockers, and when you do space is a precious commodity in your backpack.

I liked some of the items they had for sale in the studio store; especially The Price is Right onesie. Start them off young. If I had a kid I'd put them in that. Plus it's gender neutral. It could be for a boy or a girl. It was a white onesie.

The warm up guy was annoying. He made me feel like I was back at a high school pep rally. Which coincidentally I usually get stuck sitting by an overly enthusiastic person, and I did back then and at the taping. The guy wasn't that funny. I've read better jokes on Bazooka wrappers. The one good thing was that I didn't have to hear the Animaniacs them song like 5 times. Actually that happened to me when I went to that game show taping back in '95. Since it was for kids' they played a bunch of kids' songs. I think they had a soundtrack CD from the show or something. I remember singing the Pinky and the Brain theme song too. Too bad they didn't play any Garbage songs. That would have been so appropriate. The guy also told us to introduce ourselves to the people around us. It was strange. I don't like to do that stuff. I'm really shy. The guy threw candy at the audience. I was hoping I'd get a Capri Sun too. That was what they fed us back at that other taping. I guess it was to keep us hyper and stuff. I remember one time when I watched Ferguson and he did that segment where he reads mail somebody wrote to him and complained that they went to a taping and got hit in the head with a candy bar. The only reason I remember this was because this was featured in an episode that Shirley was a guest on (previously).

The studio is really small. It looks a lot bigger on tv. Also Craig seemed shorter than I thought he was. I was so tempted to ask where the bucket was to collect the leaks when it rains.

Shirley looked great. I'm not going to spoil what she talked about. Anyway it was really hard to hear what she was saying since they kept want us to applaud her. Well I guess I can hear what she says when I watch it on tv.

I had no idea who the second guest was who replaced Wayne Newton. He was some sports writer. Too bad Shirley could not have been the only guest.

After the show my dad and I went to a McDonald's and got a McRib. ^-^ It was very good. It was also my 2nd rib sandwich of the day. I ate a frozen one (from the dollar store) at home before we left for the show. It made me feel nostalgic.

Let’s Make a Deal

The newest incarnation of Let’s Make a Deal isn’t bad. To be honest I don’t remember the version that ran from 1984-1986. It debut the year I was born, and I really didn’t get into watching game shows until I was 2. Ok maybe 3. I was really into the Price it Right, Card Sharks, and Double Dare back then. I think I didn’t watch the 1990 version either. I have no recollection of it. I did watch the 2003 version, all 3 episodes. It came out around the time the war started.

Looking at the costumes people construct for this version and the 2003 one remind me of my old high school’s Spirit Week. Those weeks would always have theme days like “Nerd Day”, “Animal Day” or “Food Character Day”. Or when the student government was strapped for ideas for theme day they would have Spirit Week during a week with a holiday in it like Halloween or Veteran’s Day. They only needed to come up with 8 themes during a “full” week; four for the people running for the court and four for everybody else. I mean the last day was always class color/school mascot day. Which made me think what if my high school’s mascot was not a person or an animal, but a thing like a tornado? How could you make a tornado costume? Would you just spin around, and get really dizzy? I mean all they need is like a cheer like “freshman suck!” and I’d be back at a lame high school pep rally. I just that could be somebody’s costume on the show. Dress as a disgruntled pep rally attendee.

Some people have a problem with Wayne. I really don’t. I remember when he was on Qwik Witz. That predates Whose Line even though the shows were very similar. He was a good host on Don’t Forget the Lyrics. I didn’t like that show because I found the contestants to be fake and annoying.

There are a few things I noticed about the show: 1 the set is really small, 2 because of the internet it’s way easier to get costumes which I think takes away the originality of the homemade costume aspect, 3 they tape it in Vegas.

Maybe I should go visit my aunt who lives in the area, and then stop by for a taping of the show. I’ll need to bring supplies to construct a lame costume. Since most of the costumes I do construct are lame.

As I watched the show it made me think about that Animaniacs cartoon “I Got Yer Can” starring Slappy Squirrel. This cartoon is about Slappy and her neighbor Candie Chipmunk. Slappy throws a can in Candie’s trash and Candie tells her that she needs to throw it in her own trash. Slappy annoys Candie by finding different ways to give her back the can. There is this one scene where it’s a parody of Let’s Make a Deal. Candie is a contestant on the show and her Zonk prize is the can. Slappy is the model, and Candie has a corn cob costume. Well it’s more like a head piece. It’s like a corn cob on her head. I really like this cartoon because Candie reminds me of an annoying neighbor I use to have at the time this cartoon came out.

A lot of people were upset since Guiding Light was taken off. Personally I really don’t watch daytime soaps. I mean I did a little bit with my mom when I was really little before I went to school. They use to show a lot of preschool toy commercials like for Marshmallow Babies and Water Pets. I did watch The City for a few months during the summer. There was some plotline about somebody who ate some poison fish or something. I’ll admit I did occasionally watch Passions for the hilarity of it. If I recall correctly most of my family watched the soaps on ABC.

According to what I heard game shows are cheap to produce, and probably a lot cheaper to produce than a soap opera. In times like these that’s what the networks want shows that are cheap to produce.

I like Mice

After looking over that blog I wrote about Halloween I remembered I also want to dress as Gadget from Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers and Pinky from Pinky and the Brain. Then I realized they are both mouse characters.

I’ve wanted to dress as Gadget since I was about 5, and liked that character. I remember one year I think in like 1990 or 1991 I was really thinking about making a costume. I was talking it over with my mom. We were thinking about how to make it. Gadget wears a purple jumpsuit with a magenta belt or band on it. Back then I use to like to wear goggles on my head like a headband like she does. She was doing that before it was cyberpunk/cybergoth. I think I use to wear swim goggles. We talked about it but the costume never materialized I think I ended up being a witch. That was the first time I dressed as a witch. I think I’ve been one about 5 or 6 times since then.

I think the costume will be easy to make all you need is a purple jumpsuit, some magenta fabric to make the belt, blue goggles (you could always paint them or something), long strawberry blond hair, and a pink nose.

Pinky what can I say about him? I’ve always liked him. Well he’s not my favorite Animaniacs character. That’s Mindy. Pinky and I do share a physical attribute. Pinky was my nickname in 6th grade. It would be fun and hard to dress as Pinky. I’d need a fur suit or something. I don’t want a giant head. I’d rather paint my face or something.

Then I can really get into character, and go around yelling things like “Narf!”, “Poit!”, “Troz!”, and “Zort!”. I can also talk with a cockney accent like Pinky has and say “Egad!”

In case anybody doesn't know. Pinky is the taller mouse in the picture. Brain is the shorter one.
