The Red Dress

Unless you are a No Doubt fan you don’t know about this. There is this No Doubt pilgrimage. Where you go to all the different historical places related to the band No Doubt. I didn’t even know about this until I got the internet. Here are some of the places the fans go to: the Beacon Street house, Loara High School, Cal State Fullerton, Disneyland, Newport Beach Hard Rock Café, and the M&M Market (from the “Sunday Morning” video)

Ok since Orange County is like in my backyard I have actually been to some of these places. Like Cal State Fullerton. GO TITANS! Titan Pride. I’ve been to Disneyland too. One place I hadn’t gone to was the Hard Rock Café in Newport Beach that was at the time displaying the iconic red vinyl dress Gwen wore on the cover of “Tragic Kingdom”. I heard she got it at Contempo Casual. I think her red Docs were there too.



Anyway I didn’t really get this information off a fansite. I think I read something on a fansite that got me more interested in finding the restaurant. I think I used a city guide for tourists or something.

On the website I read it said that those items were at the café, so my family went to see them. The ride over there was long and boring.

The funny thing is that I could not find anything in my paper writings about this. I’m just writing this part from memory. When we get there I’m looking around in the restaurant to try and find the dress. When the enthusiastic waiter takes our order I ask were the dress is. He says it’s not there anymore, but that there are other pieces of memorabilia there. I was disappointed, and I got in a lot of trouble for that. To be honest the food wasn’t that good there. It wasn’t all bad. I did get to see Bradley’s (from Sublime) shirt and No Doubt’s “star” that is in the walkway up to the restaurant. I hope someday they will get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. I did take a picture of the star. I thought I had a picture of Bradley’s shirt, but I guess it didn’t come out.



From now on when I want to go somewhere I do research; a lot of research.

A few years later I hear that the dress is on display at the Fullerton Museum Center. I was happy that I would finally get to see it. This happened during the beginning of my spring semester. I was at the bookstore buying my books. The store was crowded, and I knew that would upset my dad. They were playing KIIS FM in the book store. After an Enimen song I heard some breaking news. That Gwen’s red “Tragic Kingdom” dress was stolen from the Fullerton Museum Center. I was very upset. I think I said something like “Oh! I wanted to see that!”. It made me think about how vinyl was really big in the mid to late 90s. I think I was wearing a No Doubt shirt because it was Tom Dumont’s (No Doubt‘s guitarist) birthday.

My dad acted stupid and made a scene in the store. He did because we had to wait a long time in line. I don’t know what was worse getting the news that the dress was stolen or my dad making a scene. Word is the dress is owned by a private collector.

Sexy Nostalgia Part 1

The title is a little misleading. I’m talking about those sexy style nostalgic costume like Strawberry Shortcake and Rainbow Brite.

Since there are so many versions of the Strawberry Shortcake costumes. They have even done some of the other characters of the series like Blueberry Muffin. I decided to devote this blog to only those costumes. Hey slutty costume makers there are some untapped ideas for you that I have. They are really sexy. LOL! :P
I’m going to do this character by character. First up is Strawberry Shortcake. The star of the series and it’s many revivals during the years.
First is the pink “strawberry girl” costume. It’s cute, but not very accurate.
Here is another sexier version. Sexy, but inaccurate.
The second costume isn’t too bad. The dress is red. I like the ruffly petticoat. Which is probably not included.
The third one to me looks the most accurate for being a “sexy knockoff”. the dress is red and there is even some detailing on the apron.
At first I didn’t like the fourth costume. I though it was ugly and really inaccurate, but after I looked at if for a while it grew on me. I think it is a “sexy knockoff” of the Party Pleaser dress.
This fifth costume is called “berry cute”. Who knew Strawberry Shortcake wore a strapless corset dress? Inaccurate and ugly. I do like those strawberry socks though. I’d buy and wear the strawberry socks without a “strawberry girl” costume.

Next is Blueberry Muffin. Here is the “blueberry girl” costume. I think it’s really inaccurate. When I first saw this costume in a flyer for a store I didn’t even know what it was suppose to be. It’d look better without the polka dots.
Here is another “blueberry girl” costume I found. It’s cute and looks a little more accurate. For some reason it reminds me of a Mad Hatter costume or something.

Lemon Meringue; the costumes available for her or “lemon girl” are interesting…
Here is the “lemon girl” costume. I think this is ugly and inaccurate. It looks nothing like what Lemon Meringue wears.
Here is another “lemon girl” costume. This one is cute, sexy, and accurate looking. I love the hat on this one. I’d wear this.

Raspberry Tart got the short end of the stick here. This “raspberry girl” costume is horrible. It is wrong in so many ways. When I saw this one in a flyer for a store I didn’t even know what it was suppose to be. I know I said the same thing for the “blueberry girl” costume. When I first saw the raspberry one I thought it was a recolor variation of the “strawberry girl” costume. You know like when they sell a green witch dress and a purple witch dress. The costumes are exactly the same except for the color. First off Raspberry doesn’t wear polka dots either she wears gingham. She also doesn’t wear a dress. She wears like some type of pantaloon or bloomer shorts. I have no idea what the costume designers where thinking of when they came up with it.
Here is a sexier version of the costume. Epic Fail.

Cherry Cuddler this costume baffled me at first since she is a “baby” character. The “cherry girl” costume looks like a mix between Cherry’s original outfit and Party Pleaser dress. It also has it’s own thing goin’ on with the red checkers. I think it would have been cute if it had a cherry print on it instead. The hat is awesome.
Apple Dumplin’ another baffler here since she is also a “baby” character. I think this “apple girl” costume is suppose to be her Party Pleaser dress. Looks pretty accurate even the hat. It’s a nice “sexy knockoff”. I’d wear this one too.
Why not stop there? They should make some more “sexy knockoff” Strawberry Shortcake characters. My first thought was Orange Blossom. Why isn’t she getting any love here? The sexy version of her outfit would probably be an orange polka dot dress with white dots and an apron with an orange on it.

I also like Lime Chiffon. I always thought she wore a cute outfit. It looks easy to make it into a slutty version. They probably won’t do justice to her hat though. The sexy version of her outfit would probably be a solid color lime green dress with a petticoat and an apron with a lime on it.

Here are my sketches of how I would make a “sexy knockoff” version of their outfits. I know they aren't that good. They are just to give you an idea of my version.
Here are some other characters I thought about. Apricot…maybe. Butter Cookie…possibly. Plum Pudding might work. I think the costume makers want to use characters that have a fruit in their name. Angel Cake could work and so could Banana Twirl and Peach Blush.

You pondering what I'm pondering?

I wore my Pinky and the Brain. It was strange since I got 2 compliments on the shirt. I really liked it, but I thought it was childish. It was funny since one of the people who complimented me on the shirt asked why they stopped making the cartoon. I really have no idea. :/

I'm still going to embrace "adult clothes". I need to dress well to get a job and such. I think I'll keep my "bad hair" for now.

I was thinking I could incorporate the shirt into a Pinky costume. I saw a Pinky and the Brain costume somebody made, and in my opinion it wasn't that good. I still haven't decided on a costume yet. I still have about 6-7 months left. I'd need to think about how I'd go about making it. I was also thinking about dressing as something or someone who is red or wears red. I was thinking: Minnie Mouse (red dress), Harley Quinn, Musa from the Winx Club (casual outfit season 1), devil, strawberry, Strawberry Shortcake (either 80s or 1991 version), cherries, Wicked Witch of the East, and Something Glee related.

I threw out these characters; Ringo from Tokyo Mew Mew, Anemone, Sailor Mars, Kaitlyn/Poppu from Magical Doremi/Ojamajo Doremi, Lisa Simpson, Wordgirl, Red Butler from Rainbow Brite, red riding hood.

Look all you Want Just Don't Touch the Hair!

Here are some shoes and a dress I got for my Stella doll. She is a spoiled doll.


I wanted the Flora shoes because I thought they would look good for a 90s look I was designing for her. I think those shoes would look good with a long skirt. The shoes really match the pink skirt she is wearing.
The green Layla boots look good with this Barbie Snap n Play skirt. It makes Stella look a little high wasted. The white soles look good with the white accents on the skirt.
The red dress and boots are a set. I think they look good on her. I thought the dress would look good on a Musa doll. But I don't have one. The gold accents go nicely with Stella's blond hair.

Sexy Nostalgia 5

I know I wrote the first sexy nostalgia blogs over a year ago, but I got inspired by seeing this costume.
Is she Raphael? Or one of the original red masked turtles? I’ve seen a different home made version with tank tops and booty shorts. Why not make a Venus costume? The female turtle that everybody “forgets” about or wants to forget. What about a sexy April costume? 80s version. With a tight yellow jumpsuit, plunging neckline and white thigh high boots?

Here is an untapped sexy cartoon character costume idea. Cleo from the Catillac Cats cartoon. Or Brittany the Chipette? From the 1980s cartoon not the new movie.

This “Gem” costume isn’t too bad. I’d hate to think what a sexy version of Kimber would look like. This very cute accessory was also available. Too bad they don’t flash.

Bleh! Look at these Strawberry Shortcake like costumes. UGLY! Just because the dress is pink and has a strawberry slapped on it doesn’t make it a Strawberry Shortcake costume sexy or not. The red costume has no resemblance to Strawberry Shortcake at all not even a vague one. It just looks like a strawberry motif dress. I’d like to see somebody tackle a sexy version of the Berrykins dress or the 90s version.

The Rainbow Cutie costume is pretty cute and semi modest. I’d wear it if it was available in my size. A little off, but not bad.

So I had previously written that I had been having some harsh dreams. Well they are more wacky than harsh, but the symbols represent harsh things.

You know I’m into dream interpretation and stuff like that. I think it goes along with my weak psychic abilities.

Here are some that have occurred in my dreams recently:

A rocket crash- I couldn’t find anything, but a plane crash means you set unrealistic goals for yourself. So I guess the rocket would symbolize very unrealistic goals.

Wood- I dream about wood a lot. I think this does not have a sexual connotation. It also means to feel dead inside.

Pastels-I keep dreaming in pastels a lot. It means that you are not completely recognizing and dealing with some part of your emotions. It also implies ambiguity in your life.

Amputee- An amputee (missing arms) means lack of motivation.

Parrot- A parrot means that someone is mocking you. It can also represent a person that you think is obnoxious.

Passenger-suggests that you are not in control of your life and are letting others decide for you.

Broken watch-To see a broken watch in your dream, indicates that you are unsure of your own feelings or how to express yourself. You are experiencing an emotional standstill. Halloween Costume Help!

I like going on Yahoo Answers helping people come up with costumes. Especially the really desperate ones. The people who need a costume like that day or something. I think it's funny when people say "help me make a costume with the things in my house". I don't know what is in their house anyway. I think it's more help if the person has idea of some item they want to work with like a blue wig or a red mini dress.

The people who want to dress up, but have it look like they are not wearing a costume. They say it also has to be identifiable.

They want something that matches their friend or something. I didn't realize it was so important to dress like your friends for Halloween. I don’t remember having to match my friends’ Halloween costume. I think I never did. Is this a new thing? When I was in high school 10 years ago nobody really did that. Then again I'm not into matching costumes. If you want to dress as salad and your friend wants to be Marge Simpson. I'm cool with that. Even unmatched couples. If a girl dresses as Princess Jasmine why does the guy automatically have to be Aladdin? Why can't he be a beer mug or something or not wear a costume at all?

My other favorite thing to read is "no boring things like a pumpkin, witch, pirate or a bunny". Or "something creative". That really narrows down the options.

It's really hard to help these people but I love reading the questions they ask.

The Late Shift Part 2

Move over Edward and Jacob! Team Conan!

Actually I was going to write a blog about the time my dad tried to set up a checking account for me and meddled in my finances, but I'll save that blog for later; this is much more interesting to me. (Wow! that sentence is a cluster of bad grammar)

I'm wondering what a lot of people are; what is so special about Leno? I mean sure he pulled in the ratings, but in my opinion he's not as funny as Conan. What was the name of that bodybuilder character Jay use to play? That character wasn't funny.

There are some naysayers out there who are saying that Conan isn't famous or popular. Maybe like 15 years ago. Maybe NBC should have stuck to having Conan sign weekly contracts like he did when he was first on Late Night.

I'm also upset because I really wanted to go to a taping of Conan's show. I'll say what I said when Gwen's red dress was stolen "Oh! I wanted to see that!". It's funny that I went to a Ferguson taping before I went to a taping of Conan's show. You know I just went to Ferguson's show to see Shirley right?

It made me think about the movie The Late Shift that was made in 1996 It's a movie about when Carson stepped down, and who would host the Tonight show. The guy they got to play Letterman didn't really look like him.

There should be a movie made about this new mess. Jay Leno should be played by Mac Tonight. Who would play Conan?

Today is the Day Episode Review

I was going to write about something else, but I decided to post my episode review today. The reason it is so late is because I needed to re-watch the episode. Plus I took a few days off.

Sarah decided to move. When she was packing up her neighbor told her about some dead blond girl they found in the river with a star tattoo and some attempted suicide scars. Star tattoos are tight. LOL!

It was funny when Cameron saw a pigeon and told it there was a 51% of her not killing it. Sarah found the parts Cameron was saving and burned them.

I don’t understand why Sarah thinks Cameron killed Riley with a gun. Cameron could just twist a person’s head and kill them. Remember when she hurt that girl in Alison from Palmdale? Cameron’s too smart for that. I understand why Derek does. He’s being brainwashed by Jesse. John eventually believes Cameron. Cameron and John decide to lie to Riley’s foster dad by impersonating Riley’s voice on the phone. John doesn’t tell her that she’s dead. Later John goes to the morgue to see Riley’s body and say goodbye.

I thought it was funny when Catharine Weaver explained to Savannah about patience in a very complex way. Then she is lured into the basement by John Henry to play hide and seek. If Catherine really wanted to look for Savannah she would have just tracked her. Cameron can do that and she is a lesser 800 series model. Instead she goes to John Henry and decides to play a game with him instead immanently looking for Savannah. Why isn’t Ellison suspicious of this more than being enraged? Eventually they find Savannah in the helicopter.

Is Jesse really a Terminator? There is something strange about her. There was a flashback of when she was on the Jimmy Carter.

Why do a lot of people say Shirley looks like Mackenzie Smith? (the girl who plays Savannah) Is it because they are both red heads? Who does Shirley look like?…That’s really hard to say. She has a unique look about her. With that red hair and those wide eyes. To be honest I’d have to say her mother. Have you seen that picture she posted of her in the blue dress on facebook? Or maybe a neighbor I use to have. This girl has to be about 27 now. She also had wide eyes and red hair.

When I was watching the show I found a nice surprise in my bag of gummi bears Quadruplets! This is better than twins or triples. Now if only I could find a chain of 8 bears.

Phone in a Costume

My phone is broken again! It keeps telling me I need to buy more time, but I don't have to until October. I had to call 3 different times, and argue with 3 different people telling me the same thing. Just because your computer says my phone is working doesn't mean it is!

I bought some red skirts at the dollar store for a costume. They fit little kids, but I can alter them. I might need more though to accommodate my girth.

I stained my hand by accidentally touching one of those balls that have fake blood inside them. The ones they usually sell around Halloween. Whatever they use for fake blood stains your hands.

When I called the bakery to ask about the specifics of the position. The bakery told me they filled the position. There is no need to go. Now I can stay home and watch The Office.

I was disappointed that there wasn't much of a tribute the the 40th season of The Price is Right. There were only 2 old clips with Bob. One from the first episode he hosted and the debut of Pinko. But no footage of the disco ball.

I just hope Garbage is not covering "Poker Face" "Love You Like a Love Song" "Baby"

I dismantled an old dress. A really old dress from when I was a kid. It yellowed, but I think I can do something with it. ;)

Faker than Fake

I feel like Liz in the most recent episode of 30 Rock. "The Tuxedo Begins"

This job hunt is going bad. First off the people are mad because I ask for their name unless I read it off a name tag or something. Somebody gave me a fake name! I'm only doing it for that stupid assignment if I wasn't required to I wouldn't do it. (When I do that it is not mandated by the government I never ask for names)

Do I look that crazy, threatening or weird? I wasn't even wearing improperly secured odangos. (that is my "deranged" hairstyle which happened by accident)

I didn't notice that I had grey in my hair due to a hair product I use. If I use too much dry shampoo it looks like I have grey streaks. I stopped caring; plus I am old and it blends in with my mouth wrinkles. (yes I'm that old!)

I do not look like a villain from Batman. Although I wish I had Harley's body shape. Maybe I should just go around in red and black clothes, wear pigtails and talk with Brooklyn accent. I forgot the white face paint! I think I could pass for a deranged tourist or something. Maybe I'll dress as a Sailor Moon villain instead.

Miscellaneous Blog #23

Let's see if I can crank out this blog. I'm only saying this in case the power goes out. It is really windy out there. I'm still thinking about coming up with a Halloween costume. I have some more ideas. One idea came to me while I was watching tv yesterday. That costume is a secret. Then I was thinking if I dress as Shirley that costume will be annoying to my cousins. If they see it. Maybe I'll make a strawberry costume with that red poster board I have and some gold glitter paint. I found my colored hairspray I have a pink can that was from my pink haired Gwen phase. Anyway I was testing out one of the cans to see if it still worked and I ended up spraying my hand. It was stained pink for like the whole day. It was really funny. :P

Here is something non costume related. You know who is singing the national anthem at game 3 of the World Series? The cast of Glee. Great promotion Fox! ;P I wonder how this will go over? I just love Glee though. It reminds me of high school. My school didn't have a glee club. We had choir. They took anybody and I mean anybody. Somebody even wanted me to join. I just have to say that I'm not exactly choir material. If anybody has heard me sing they know that. Since the town they live in starts with the letter "L" like the city I went to high school did. They say about being "Lima Losers". I wonder if they say that about people from the city I went to high school in?

Have you seen that Snuggie for Kids commercial? It's so stupid. Especially the line "It's Snuggie time!" WTH?! @.@ The kids in the commercial look like idiots, and I don't mean because they are wearing the Snuggie. Look at that one boy doing some kind of Macarena Cabbage Patch dance.

Absolute Garbage DVD Review (video portion)

I’m going to write a review of the Absolute Garbage DVD. I’m breaking it up into 2 parts; a review of the videos and a review of the documentary.

I think there could have been better liner notes in it. Well the CD doesn’t have very good liner notes in it either. It has different screen caps from the different videos including one for the “Tell Me Where it Hurts” video which is not included on the region 1 pressing of the DVD (which I have). But it is included on the region 0 pressings. I don’t mind though I’m not really crazy about that video. I don’t hate it. It’s just ok. I do really like the big picture of Shirley from the “Special” video. The DVD is white so it won’t be confused with the CD that has the same name. The CD is red.

I like “Vow”. It’s a pretty simple video. Shirley looks so young. I think she looks good with long hair. I like the necklace she is wearing in the video.

I really like the video for “Queer”. It’s very 90s, but still good. Shirley looks really sexy in that video. I like when she dresses the guy. I bet if Shirley dressed me in a stupid outfit I’d wear it because she put me in it. Even if she gave me a bad hair cut like that one she use to have.

“Only Happy When It Rains” is good too. I have a feeling I’ve seen it before, but I’m pretty sure I haven’t. It reminds me of another video I’ve seen before; a non-Garbage one. I like the pink dress Shirley is wearing.

The videos for “Stupid Girl” and “Milk” are ok.

What is the “Push It” video about? I’ve seen it a few times and I still don’t understand it. Shirley is married to the light bulb head man and she’s also the assassin? I’m not the only one because a lot of the fans are confused by that video. It kind of reminds me when the video for “Ex-girlfriend” by No Doubt came out and none of my friends could figure out what that video was about. The only person who said they “got” it was this crazy girl. I won‘t mention her by name, and no it wasn’t me.

It was funny when I was watching the video for “I Think I‘m Paranoid”, and my dad thought the DVD was broken because the video is in black and white. I had the explain to him that it was purposely shot that way.

I like the “live” version of the “When I Grow Up” video better than the “Big Daddy” version. Although the BD one has Shirley dancing to choreographed dance moves.

Too bad the videos for “Androgyny” and “Run Baby Run” weren’t included on the DVD because I really like those videos. Especially “Run Baby Run”. It’s one of my favorite Garbage videos.
